As a working mom I am always on-the-go. That means I drink several cups of coffee throughout the day to get myself through all of my meetings. On most occasions, I drink about 4-5 cups of coffee a day (sometimes more on Mondays). I also drink a good bit of red wine on the weekends, which definitely doesn’t help with all of my teeth stains. All of these years of constant coffee drinking, along with tea, wine and sodas, has really taken a toll on my smile. It has gotten to the point where I don’t even show my teeth when we take family photos! That is why I couldn’t pass up the chance to test out the Smile Brilliant Whitening System. Smile Brilliant is an at-home teeth whitening system that promises dentist quality whitening results. I did a bit of research and to be honest, I wasn’t all that convinced.  A professional teeth-whitening system for under $200? Yeah Right.

Depending on the amount of stains your teeth have, your lifestyle, and the sensitivity of your teeth, Smile Brilliant offers six different kits to best suit your needs. Regardless of the kit you order each kit comes with professional dental lab impressions, 3 way postage to send off your impressions, custom fitted teeth whitening trays, two impression trays, three sets of impression material, and three sets of whitening gel. In my case, I needed the T6 Sensitive System which is for average stains and for people with mild sensitivity (you will need to answer a few questions about your dental history to determine which kit you need to purchase). This particular system is great for those of us that drink coffee, tea, and wine on a regular basis.

My T6 Sensitive System came with one set of custom whitening trays, eighteen whitening
applications, and eighteen desensitizing applications. This kit costs $165 and has an average dentist office value of $750. Again, I wasn’t completely convinced that Smile Brilliant was exactly what I needed, but began my at home whitening process anyway. I completed my teeth molds and shipped them to Smile Brilliant. Since the company includes a pre-paid envelope, I was able to send them off fairly quickly.

I received my custom fitted whitening trays approximately a week later and they fit like a charm! I was able to start my teeth whitening process that very night. Smile Brilliant suggested whitening at night, so that so the desensitizing gel has time to absorb into my teeth. It also prevents me from introducing any new food or drinks that may re-stain my teeth. Each individual session took about 45 minutes to 2 hours followed by a 20-30 minute desensitizing session. When I first read how long the sessions were, I was turned off. That honestly seemed like an extremely long time to sit around whitening my teeth. Surprisingly I was able to get a lot done around the house while doing my sessions. The custom whitening trays made it much easier than I originally expected. Unlike other whitening systems, I didn’t have this large uncomfortable tray sitting in my mouth preventing me from talking!

I started seeing a slight change after my second whitening session. I did have a bit of decalcification on two of my front teeth (white spots after whitening), however it was reversed fairly quickly after using the desensitizing gel and letting it sit overnight. I still wasn’t a believer just yet, so I continued my sessions as needed until all of my gel was gone. The entire process, from start to finish, took me about three weeks. That includes sending my teeth molds off and waiting to get my custom whitening trays back in the mail! I am officially convinced! I still drink many cups of coffee a day, so I plan on re-whitening every 2-3 months as suggested by the Smile Brilliant team, so that I can maintain my new beautiful smile. I can’t believe that Smile Brilliant was able to completely reverse three years worth of coffee stains (not to mention I used to smoke)! I back the Smile Brilliant system 1000%!
