Marvel Universe Live: Age Of Heros

Both my nephew and my daughter are huge Marvel fans. My nephew tends to like Iron Man and The Hulk, while my daughter and I prefer Captain America and Thor. When we realized we would be attending Marvel Universe Live, we were over the moon! Marvel Universe Live: Age Of Heroes features over 25 Marvel characters and villains so we knew our favorites would definitely make an appearance! We received tickets to Marvel Universe Live: Age Of Heroes opening night (June 23rd, 2017) at the New Orleans Smoothie King Center. The Smoothie King Center happens to be one of my all-time favorite venues, so we were super excited to cover the show there. When we arrived, we noticed tons of little kids (and even a few adults) dressed like their favorite superheros! The atmosphere was amazing and everyone was so polite! Before heading to our seats we grabbed a few snacks which I found to be decently priced. Souvenirs and food were no more than any other live event we’ve attended and we spent under $50 for four people. After grabbing some goodies, we made our way to our seats.lx.jpgWe had seats in section 107 and Row 21 which were right in the front and center of the stage! We couldn’t have asked for better seats! When the show started, the center roared to life as the Marvel Avengers made their way onto the stage. Of course my daughter couldn’t get over the fact that Thor was so close to us! Not only that, but Spider-Man was swinging around just feet away from us! Unlike most live shows we’ve attended, this show had a plot line, and didn’t switch casts very often. I really enjoyed that. It was like watching an action movie, but with the characters sitting right in front of you!The kids loved that this show had so many lighting effects and pyrotechnics. Everything was so well thought out, that as a parent I almost forgot that it was fake! The changes in scenery, 3D effects, and lifelike lightning made everything feel so realistic! There were even trap doors and hidden passages so that the cast could escape into their “portals”. PicMonkey Collage.jpgAround 7:45 the show took a break for intermission. During this time the workers walked around selling snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. There was a slideshow on the screen that showed some of the fan photos, and how cool is it that we made the slideshow?!? The kids were beyond excited to see themselves on the big screen! Intermission lasted about 15 minutes, and the show roared back to life fairly quickly as the superheros entered on dirt bikes.PicMonkey Collage.jpgThe second half of the show was definitely our favorite. Not only was there an entire section of the superheros on dirt bikes, but there was a full blown fire show! YES! Real fire! It was so intense! As the Avengers and the Guardians got closer to saving the Wand of Watoomb, the special effects got even better! The fight scenes seemed so real, and the characters flipped and flew around the stage kicking some serious villain butt! The kids and I were honestly on the edge of our seats! Since Loki held the hulk hostage, we didn’t see him until the end when he escaped the prison. When the hulk broke out, the entire center roared from excitement! Like the other characters, the hulk was so lifelike! He hulk smashed the box that was holding the Wand of Watoomb and was finally able to set it free! 20170623_204122.jpg

We were so excited when the superheros rescued the Wand Of Watoomb, but we were so sad that the show was over! This was honestly one of the best and most exciting shows we have ever been to! The pyrotechnics and special effects really set the bar for future Feld shows! My family and I were blown away and talked about the show the entire ride home! As I sit here typing my review, my daughter is begging me to go back! To be honest, I wouldn’t mind watching the show for a second time. The show wasn’t too violent for smaller children, but had just the right amount of action to keep even the oldest adults entertained! We will definitely be following Marvel Universe on tour this entire year!

  1. Wow! You got such amazing seats! Good seats really do make a difference. And look at the shots your snapped! I think the on-ice phenomenon is so strange, but it’s also fun for the kids. Glad you all had a good time!

  2. I love marvel super heroes to. Recently, I finally got my first ever superman t-shirt. My son also have one. I am planning to have my own super hero day. Too bad we are not that close to the show.
