Top STEM Learning Activities

STEM learning (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) is extremely important to introduce to our children as early as possible. These skills are part of our everyday lives and STEM research is constantly evolving. It is extremely important for our children to continuously expand their knowledge of these skills, which is why STEM learning toys are a hot topic in the toy market!

Engineering & Design Set– This engineering & design set is designed for children three and up to design their very own “playground”. This set includes a swing set, a seesaw, a twisty slide, and many more playground essentials. Using STEM and critical thinking skills, children can come up with thousands of different playground combinations. Kids can use the included activity cards to play, or simply explore their own unique building possibilities. My daughter is three, so I decided not to use the activity cards. She built her own playground from her imagination, and spent hours making sure it was exactly how she wanted it to be.

GeoSafari® Solar Rover – The GeoSafari Solar Rover is designed for children aged eight to twelve years old to get out and get learning! his toy teaches the basics of solar energy, STEM learning, and hand-eye coordination. The solar powered rover comes with 3 cones to complete obstacle course style challenges and a 20 page activity guide. Using the power of the sun, children can cast shadows to turn, drive, and completely stop the rover. My nephew had a blast with this toy. It did have a bit of a learning curve, but it didn’t take him long to master. He was eventually setting up his own custom obstacle courses and competing with his friends to see who could go the fastest!

The Crazy Scientist LAB set– These Crazy Scientist Lab sets are designed for children six and up to become little scientists and learn fundamental survival skills. Each kit contains the necessary supplies (excluding common household items) and a user guide with photos and facts. These kits teach a wide variety of skills such as distilling water, lighting a fire without matches, Morse code, and making a compass. These STEM skills are actually skills that someone may need in a real-life survival situation. Not only did my family have a fun time experimenting with these sets, but we all feel much more secure that we could survive in a situation where these skills may be needed.
