Cocoon Cam: The First Ever No-Touch Baby Breathing Monitor

Being a new parent can be scary. Heck, being a parent PERIOD can be scary. All of the uncertainties and constant worrying. A parent can go days without sleeping simply because they are constantly checking on their new bundle of joy in the other room.  The Cocoon Cam is the first ever no-touch baby breathing monitor that helps parents put their mind at ease while their child sleeps. By using advanced computer vision to detect the baby’s chest movements, Cocoon Cam will alert you when app senses anything out of the ordinary! Cocoon Cam comes with one Wifi-enabled HD wireless Video Camera (720p) with Night Vision and Two-Way Audio, an AC power cord, an ethernet cable,  and one mounting kit. It also comes with a mobile app (iPhone, iPad, or Android), a FREE 6-month subscription to Cocoon Cam Insights and FREE cocoon alerts.20170612_203916

To work properly, the Cocoon Cam camera must be installed above your baby’s crib with all four corners of the crib within view. That means we couldn’t place the camera on a shelf or on top of furniture. We were able to properly install the camera in under 5 minutes. Once the camera was installed correctly,  the Cocoon Cam app prompted us to create a new account which linked our camera to our app. We placed Lily into her crib, and immediately got a live video feed sent to our phone. I was able to view the live feed, analysis graphs, and all of the Cocoon Cam’s awesome features. The moving graph at the bottom of the live video feed constantly monitored Lily’s chest movements regardless of if she was covered by a blanket or not. By clicking the app once on the screen, I was able to revert back to full-screen video mode and the graph was hidden. I really loved how the camera camera automatically switched to Night Vision mode once we turned the lights off in Lily’s room. Since multiple people can download the app, I figured the babysitter and her grandparents would get use out of it as well and made sure everyone had access to the account. The streaming video is encrypted, which means no one besides my family can see our streams, which makes me feel even safer about using this camera. PicMonkey Collage.jpg

Once we left the room, we started getting alerts sent to our phones. The first one was a “Low Movement Detected” alert  and then later in the night we received a “High Movement Alert”. Both alerts came straight to my phone and didn’t go away until I closed them myself. I loved knowing that I could rest easy while Cocoon Cam did all of the work for me! PicMonkey Collage.jpgCocoon Cam’s subscription fee (optional after the initial 6-month period) is required to view graphs and insights regarding chest movements and breathing graphs. In the future other measurements such as temperature and humidity will also be available on the app. The subscription is $12.99 per month after the initial 6-month free subscription, however it is NOT required that you subscribe. If you chose not to subscribe you will still have access to the live HD video and two-way audio, however all graphs and other functions will be unaccessible. This cutting edge technology is something I wouldn’t want to miss out on, so I will be continuing my subscription once the 6 month trial is over. I just can’t pass up such amazing features!

  2. This is the kind of technology that is really helpful to parents. Thanks for sharing this, however, I guess it’s hard to look for this kind of device at this point in time. i hope they will soon hit the global market.
