Why Everyone Should Own A CMFRT Cozy Weighted Blanket

This is a sponsored post

Everyone has heard of weighted blankets, but no one really knows why or how they work. They have been around for over a decade and are often used in the Occupational Therapy field.  A weighted blanket has tons of wonderful home benefits that most people are unaware of. For example, these blankets can naturally increase levels of Serotonin and Melatonin which helps the body relax. They can also help reduce stress and anxiety by lowering Cortisol levels in the body.  Have ADHD or RLS? Weighted blankets can help minimize fidgeting and anxiousness while helping you sleep longer thanks to its “warm hug” feeling. comfort_photo_blue_1080xWhen choosing a weighted blanket you want to choose one that is about 10% of your body weight + a lb or two. So if you are 130 lbs, you would choose a 12 lb weighted blanket. You also want to choose a blanket that is well made. Weighted blankets require a lot of stitching to create pockets in which the weighted material will be stored. This is done throughout the entire blanket so the weight distribution is as even as possible. This is why weighted blankets are much more expensive than any regular blanket. CMFRT Cozy weighted blankets start at $89.99 for 5 lb blankets and go up to $189.99 for a 25 lb blanket. Understanding the fundamental difference between an off-brand blanket and a CMFRT Cozy blanket is crucial. Some companies use plastic beads for weight (think Beanie Baby) instead of using silica sand like the CMFRT brand which gives a more natural feel. CMFRT blankets also have the smallest weight pockets in the industry which means they have the most even weight distribution on the market. f

My Personal Review:

I had the pleasure of trying out a Queen size CMFRT Cozy Weighted Blanket Set to see what the hype was all about. I was delighted to find out that the blanket actually came with a removable duvet cover (Clima-cool 100% cotton and Minky Microfleece) which I have never seen from competitor brands. This means I can simply take the duvet cover off to wash instead of attempting to wash a 16lb blanket in my personal washing machine. My initial thought before my first night was that there was no way I could sleep comfortably under a 16lb blanket. I get hot easily, and knew I would toss the blanket off in the middle of the night. That night, it did take me a little while to get used to the feel of the blanket. It wasn’t heavy, but it was definitely a “different” feeling.  I decided to skip my usual sleeping pills to really see the effects of the blanket. About 15 minutes after I laid down, I was knocked out! I don’t remember waking up in the middle of the night, and I felt extremely rested the morning after. Night number two was even better since my body had already gotten used to the weight of the blanket, and it didn’t take me nearly as long to fall asleep. I can’t wait to explore the long-term benefits of using the CMFRT Cozy weighted blanket! Being able to sleep all night without the use of sleeping medications is going to be a life-changer for me!
