Don’t think of it as a burden: Let’s be real, moving isn’t at the top of our lists of fun things to do in our spare time. But sometimes you’ve got to fake it until you make it, especially if young kids are involved. Make moving an enjoyable experience by adding creativity into the mix. Children are naturally creative and crave imaginative activities. Make organizing a game, dream up ways to decorate their new rooms, and decorate packing boxes so that you know what belongs where!

Look into a babysitter: Chances are, you’ll have to show the house. Kids are wonderful and joyous in most situations. Showings aren’t always one of them. Don’t delay the selling process because your kids are running around, doing what they do best. Many people are understanding, but it’s not a risk worth taking. Hire a babysitter or have close relatives watch your children while people are viewing the house. Donate toys to your local Goodwill. Have a lot of clothes? Either sell them to a children’s consignment shop or donate them. Another family will be more than grateful for them!

Keep your kids informed: Don’t try to hide the fact that you’re moving or why you’re moving from your children. It’s a stressful and emotional time, especially for a young mind. Doing everything as a family will help the process move along smoother and more peacefully!
