Sun Basket: Healthy Home Cooking Made Easy

As a working mom, I hardly ever have time to cook a healthy meal. Going to a local drive through is just so much quicker than going shopping for ingredients and cooking a full meal. At least that’s what I thought until I was introduced to Sun Basket. Sun Basket is the leading healthy meal kit delivery company that delivers pre-measured ingredients and easy-to-read recipes straight to my door! That means all I have to do is go online, pick my meals for the week, and Sun Basket does the rest! Sun Basket offers two menus which include a Classic Menu for 2-4 servings, and a Family Menu with 4+ servings. Of course I personally needed to order the Family Menu to feed my small army. This week I was amazed at the Menu options for my Family Plan. The Week of May 8th, I was offered Turkey Kebabs with Carrot-Snap Pea Salad and Lemon Couscous, Miso Ramen Bowls with Braised Tofu and Bok Choy, Two-bean Chili Mac ’n’ Cheese with Lime Yogurt, Vietnamese Steak Stir-fry with Jasmine Rice, or Sesame-crusted Chicken with Roasted New Potato Salad. I let my daughter choose our two meals for the week and she chose the Turkey Kebabs and the Sesame-crusted Chicken.

When my box arrived I was amazed at how neatly everything was packaged. Everything I needed to complete my meals were pre-measured and in the box along with the full recipes. We decided to try the Sesame-crusted Chicken first since that was my daughter’s first choice. The recipe was advertised as 4 servings, 520 Calories/Serving, and a 30 – 40 minute cook time. Along with the instructions, this meal came with nutrition facts as well as some tips to get the kids involved (toss the potatoes with oil before roasting, juice the lemon, mix the dressing, etc). Since this was my first Sun Box recipe, I must admit that I was a bit nervous of the outcome. I actually have very little cooking skills, and can barely boil an egg properly.

Much to my surprise, my completed meal looked exactly like the photo on the Sun Basket website! I was able to follow the instructions given and make a chef-worthy dish for my family! The instructions were extremely details and the pre-measured ingredients prevented me from making any mistakes! Although this was a big concern of mine, it was not the final test. My daughter, Kinsley, is extremely picky. Although she chose the recipe herself and helped prepare the meal, there was no telling whether or not she would actually eat it. *Insert long dramatic drumroll here* She ate EVERY BITE and then asked for seconds! I decided to save the recipe card so that I can recreate this recipe down the line because it was such a huge hit with everyone! Although this recipe was supposed to serve 4, we had quite a bit left over that I was able to save for my lunch the next day!PicMonkey Collage

We completed our Turkey Kebabs the next night (not pictured), and again it was a huge success. I can’t wait to see what recipes will be on the menu these next few weeks! Hopefully they will be as amazing as these first two were! My family will definitely be Sun Basket returning customers!
