Monster Jam: Triple Threat Series

For the first time ever, the Monster Jam Triple Threat Series is at the Raising Cane’s River Center and we were lucky enough to attend opening night! Since the Monster Jam Triple Threat Series can only be seen in select cities across the country, we were beyond thrilled to find out that it was finally coming to Baton Rouge! In case you have no idea what Monster Jam is (which I am sure you do, because come on…it’s Monster Jam), it is a high-action motocross event which features customized high-powered vehicles including the Monster Jam Speedsters, Monster Jam ATVs and  of course the famous Monster Jam trucks!picmonkey-collage7

We arrived at the arena about an hour before showtime. I was very impressed with how family-friendly everything was. The souvenirs included t-shirts, mini trucks and hats, which got the kids really excited. As far as food and snacks, in venue definitely wasn’t lacking.  We had nachos and hot dogs, but they also offered chicken strips and a few other different things. For snacks we got cotton candy (which came with a truck hat) and snow cones in custom Monster Jam cups. I was surprised at how calm the arena was as we found our way to our seats. We had seats in section 237, row E which were absolutely perfect. We weren’t too close to the trucks, but the kids still had an excellent view. Since the entire bottom section was blocked off for safety, no one had “bad” seats.

When the show started, it immediately got extremely loud. The entire arena roared to life fairly quickly once the trucks entered the stadium. Thankfully we were prepared and brought ear covers for the children. Although this is a family-friendly event, I definitely wouldn’t suggest bringing an infant along! My daughter is three and my godchild is six and I found everything was perfect for them. Any younger and we might have had issues with them being scared (again, everything is VERY loud). As the trucks came out and circled the arena, my godchild was easily able to name every single one. Trucks for the Triple Threat series included some famous trucks such as Alien Invasion, El Toro Loco, Grave Digger, Monster Mutt Rottweiler, Scooby Doo, and Zombie.PicMonkey CollageI really loved how the host of the show kept us updated on what was going on. She constantly announced which trucks were in the arena, and what they were about to do. The trucks competed in several competitions such as freestyle and donuts. They had a guest judge panel to score the trucks 1-10, and the crowd was able to vote using a special website. We all had such a blast watching the trucks jump, spin, and race around the arena. I was blown away by some of the tricks these amazing drivers can accomplish with these huge trucks! Overall, it was an AMAZING show and none of us wanted it to end! Of course Grave Digger took the win! At the end of the show we all had our favorite trucks (mine would be Scooby Doo of course) and we were dying to get autographs! The kids are still smiling and discussing their favorites (Grave Digger and Alien Invasion)! We can not wait to attend another Monster Jam event!20170407_205644.jpg
